What to Expect at Your First Curly Cut Appointment

Step 1: A Real Curl Conversation

We begin with a detailed consultation, because your curl story matters. I want to know what your curls currently do, what you’re struggling with, and what you hope they’ll look like. We’ll talk about your past haircut experiences, your products you use at home, and the type of styling you actually want to maintain.

Step 2: A Cleanse and Hydration Reset

Once the consultation ends, we move to the shampoo bowl for a gentle cleanse and a real hydration moment. This is where I show you the amount of water your curls truly need, how to detangle without breakage, and what type of conditioner works best for your hair.

Step 3: The Most Anticipated Part, The Cut

Based on our consultation I will taylor the type of cut to give you.

Step 4: A Styling Lesson You Can Actually Use

Back at the chair, I walk you through a step-by-step styling routine tailored to your curl type and lifestyle. I’ll show you exactly how much product to use, how to apply it, and how to encourage definition without losing volume. If you’ve ever left a salon unsure how to recreate your curls at home, this part changes everything.

Step 5: Drying, Refining, and Perfecting the Shape

After styling, we dry your curls either by diffusing or letting them air-dry. Once they’re fully set, I might go back in to make small refinements. These tiny adjustments are what make the overall shape come together, giving your curls balance, movement, and intention.

Step 6: A Plan for Your Curl Journey

When your appointment wraps up, you won’t just leave with a great haircut. You’ll leave with a plan. My recommendations for products, hydration routines, how often to trim, and what to expect as your curls continue to grow and evolve.
