Wet VERSUS Dry Curly Haircuts; all about personal preference
When it comes to curly haircuts, two names always come up: Ouidad and Rezo. While people love to debate which one is “best,” and people swear by either method, the truth is they’re both great techniques. The real difference comes down to your personal preference and the state the hair is when it is being cut.
Ouidad: The Wet Technique
This technique carves and slices the apex and valley of the curl which accentuates each curl strand. This breaks up each curl which creates definition. It enhances curl definition, reduces triangle shape, adds movement and bounce.
The process is:
Wash the hair
Cut the hair
Style the hair
Rezo: The Dry Technique
This technique creates not only a generally rounded shape but each layer is rounded also. This gets rid of any triangle shape that curly hair natural has. It also allows the hairdresser to see the curls in its natural state. It is also a great haircut for little kids as they don’t always love the shampoo bowls.
The process is:
Cut the hair
Wash the hair
Style the hair
My Approach as a Curl Specialist
When clients ask me which is better, my answer is always the same. Let’s choose the technique that fits your personal curl goals. Some clients love airy, defined curls. Others want big, fluffy volume.
If you’re unsure which direction to go, I can walk you through both options and customize the cut so your curls look their absolute best, no matter which technique we use.
